Job summary

Harry Meyering Center in Minnesota seeks an InHome Support Specialist to provide person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities in homes and the community. You'll help individuals work toward their goals, build independence, access community resources, attend appointments, and participate in activities that are meaningful to them.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, making a positive impact, and supporting others in living fulfilling lives.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 with a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid US driver's license and pass a driving record check.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to transport individuals.
• Must pass the MN DHS Background Study.
• Willingness to learn and perform household chores.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with the support team verbally and in writing.
• Provide in-home and community support to individuals served.
• Go grocery shopping, help with cleaning, go to the movies, take to appointments, and more.
• Write outcomes, procedures, and POCs based on needs and goals.
• Demonstrate knowledge of systems, routines, licensing regulations, and programming.
• Facilitate access to healthcare services and educate on personal health issues.
• Encourage participation in leisure activities to promote healthy living.
• Advocate for the benefit of others.
• Assist in orientation and training of new employees.
• Assist with entitlement benefits and financial matters.

InHome Support Specialist

Harry Meyering Center is a non-profit focused on supporting developmentally disabled individuals in the community with a person-centered way of thinking.

Job Purpose

As an InHome Support Specialist, you'll provide person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and throughout the community. You'll help individuals work toward their goals, build independence, access community resources, attend appointments, and participate in activities that are meaningful to them. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, making a positive impact, and supporting others in living fulfilling lives. Every day offers new opportunities to learn, connect, and make a difference.

This posting is for a full-time position of approximately 30 hours per week.

Schedule

Typically Monday - Friday, ranging from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with some flexibility.

Wage

$19.00 per hour

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Communicate with the support team both verbally and in writing
• Provide assistance and support to individuals served in their homes and in the community
  • Go grocery shopping, help with cleaning, go to the movies, take to appointments, and more
• Write outcomes, procedures, and POCs for individuals founded on needs, wants, and dreams.
• Demonstrate and act as necessary based on knowledge of systems, routines, applicable licensing regulations, and programming.
• Facilitate access to healthcare services, educate regarding personal health issues, and support/assist with medical recommendations and directives from health care providers.
• Encourage participation in leisure activities at home and in the community to promote a healthy lifestyle and socially valued goals.
• Advocate for the benefit of others.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new employees

What do we need from you?

• Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or general education degree.
• Prior experience or training is not required, but it is preferred to have experience as a CNA, PCA, Caregiver, DSP, or healthcare-related professional.
• Must hold a valid United States driver's license and pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier.
• Reliable transportation with willingness to transport individuals
• Must pass the MN Department of Human Services Background Study
• Willingness to learn
• Ability to do household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
