Job summary

Coinbase is hiring an Infrastructure Lead for the Exchange team (Institutional) to own and optimize ultra-low-latency networks and data-center infrastructure across cloud and on-prem venues.

You will design routing and market-data architectures, deploy firewalls, and drive observability with automation while leading incident response and mentoring engineers in a 24/7 trading environment. Generative AI usage with human oversight is encouraged.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of network, infrastructure, or SRE engineering experience in latency-sensitive environments.
• Deep hands-on expertise with multicast networking, BGP, OSPF, VRFs/HA, and low-latency switching.
• Proven ability to lead live incident response for production trading systems.
• Experience with Fortinet or Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, SNMP or gRPC telemetry, and network automation with Python or Ansible.
• Familiarity with exchange or electronic trading systems; crypto experience is a plus.
• Generative AI usage with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own, operate, and optimize ultra-low-latency networks and data-center infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Design and maintain routing, traffic-segmentation, and multicast market-data architectures (BGP, OSPF, VRFs, PIM).
• Deploy and operate firewalls and secure connectivity (Fortinet/Palo Alto), including IPsec and SSL VPNs.
• Drive observability and reliability using SNMP, gRPC telemetry, latency analysis, and automation (Python/Ansible).
• Lead production changes, incident response, and on-call rotations for 24/7 trading systems.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with SRE/Infra, Product, and trading teams to improve reliability.
