Job summary

Scion Staffing, Inc. is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer for a three-month contract in the Portland/Vancouver area with hybrid options.

The role focuses on server migrations, cloud improvements, and phasing out legacy systems, working with a collaborative IT team to deliver secure, reliable operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive Windows Server, Hyper-V, and Azure IaaS experience, plus SharePoint/OneDrive migration skills and strong documentation habits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on systems administration and infrastructure engineering experience.
• Experience migrating Windows servers and Hyper-V VMs and retiring legacy systems.
• Strong experience with Azure IaaS, VM, networking, and Key Vault; M365, Entra ID, and Intune configuration.
• Experience migrating SharePoint and OneDrive, SMB file shares, and data migrations; backup/restore with Veeam preferred.
• Ability to document runbooks, change records, and handoffs; troubleshoot and secure infrastructure.
• Familiarity with AI tools in technical workflows and SOC 2 readiness activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver infrastructure projects from planning through completion; coordinate with IT and application teams.
• Migrate Windows servers and Hyper-V VMs; validate functionality and retire outdated infra.
• Configure/Improve Azure infrastructure, M365 services, identity management, and device settings.
• Execute SharePoint/OneDrive migrations with data integrity and proper access controls.
• Troubleshoot infra issues; verify backup/recovery; support monitoring and security improvements.
• Maintain runbooks, change logs, and handoffs; utilize AI tools where appropriate.

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Infrastructure Engineer for our partner in exhibit design / event production.

This is a three-month contract opportunity with potential extension, with a hybrid schedule preferred in the Portland, OR / Vancouver, WA area. Exceptionally qualified remote candidates may be considered, with a preference for West Coast availability.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Infrastructure Engineer will help modernize business technology through hands‑on server migrations, cloud improvements, and retirement of legacy systems. Working alongside a collaborative IT team, this professional will independently execute technical projects, troubleshoot challenges, and document solutions that support reliable, secure operations. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver infrastructure projects from planning through completion, coordinating changes with internal IT and application teams.
• Migrate Windows servers and Hyper‑V virtual machines, validate functionality, and safely retire outdated infrastructure.
• Configure and improve Azure infrastructure, Microsoft 365 services, identity management, and device management settings.
• Execute shared file, SharePoint, and OneDrive migrations while maintaining data integrity and appropriate access permissions.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues, verify backup and recovery capabilities, and support monitoring, security improvements, and SOC 2 readiness activities.
• Maintain clear runbooks, change records, and technical handoffs, using AI tools where appropriate to support technical workflows.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 5+ years of hands‑on systems administration, infrastructure engineering, and technical project delivery experience, including independently planning and completing infrastructure migrations, modernization projects, and legacy system decommissioning.

Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Hyper‑V, including server-to-server and virtual machine migrations.

Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), including virtual machines, networking, and Key Vault, plus Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune configuration.

Experience with SharePoint and OneDrive migrations, SMB file shares, and data migrations, along with backup and restore solutions; Veeam preferred.

Strong infrastructure monitoring, security configuration, and technical troubleshooting skills; ability to create clear runbooks, change notes, and technical handoffs.

Must be organized, resourceful, and able to work independently while collaborating with infrastructure, support, and application development teams.

Practical experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot in technical workflows, with willingness to perform both complex project work and repetitive migration tasks.

Preferred experience includes Cisco Meraki networking, MX firewalls, site‑to‑site VPNs, Azure Arc, PowerShell automation, SQL Server administration, CrowdStrike or comparable endpoint security, Mac administration through Intune, SMTP basic authentication migrations to OAuth, and SOC 2 readiness and evidence collection.

AZ‑104, MS‑102, Veeam VMCE, or comparable certifications are a plus.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This career opportunity provides a starting hourly pay of $50.00 to $60.00/hr W2 (DOE), plus medical, dental, vision and voluntary life insurance, an employee assistance plan (EAP), and commuter and transit benefits for those who are working on average 30 or more hours per week.
