Under general supervision, provides or assists in providing technical automation support to County departments in selection, configuration, installation, analysis and maintenance of automation hardware and software; may train and advise users in the use of personal computer equipment and programs; and provides support for personal computer users.

Incumbents in this class assist in performing and perform a broad range of personal computer support duties requiring specialized knowledge, skills and abilities. Incumbents in this class work under general supervision with some independence exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive instruction, direction and/or assistance as necessary. This classification is distinguished from the next lower level classification of IT Support Specialist I in the broader, county-wide professional level duties and responsibilities, but does not function at the full journey level of the professional level IT Support Specialist III.
is the full journey-level classification in the Information Technology Support Specialist series performing the full range of professional-level personal computer support duties requiring highly specialized knowledge, skills and abilities. Incumbents in this class work independently and exercise judgment and initiative, receiving only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. Work is judged on overall results with latitude in determining work methods and assignment requirements. Incumbent may provide training and serve as a lead worker for the lower-level classifications of Information Technology Support Specialist I and II.
The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill any future opening(s), including Part-Time and Extra Help, in this class for up to six months.
Essential Duties require the following physical skills and work requirements: Requires the ability to maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of exercising sound judgment and rational thinking under varied circumstances; ability to see; ability to hear and communicate orally; exert a small amount of physical effort in sedentary to light work involving moving from one area of the office to another; requires sufficient hand/eye coordination to perform semi-skilled repetitive movements, such as data entry or use of other office equipment or supplies; occasionally requires sufficient strength and coordination for lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying the weight of computer equipment; dexterity to climb or crawl necessary to install cable in areas of close tolerance; ability to operate a motor vehicle; involves extensive VDT exposure.
All Sutter County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to perform certain emergency services at the direction of the department and/or County.
This classification may require a valid California driver’s license.
