As an IT Specialist, you will:- Provide support related to setup, management and troubleshooting of technology systems to maintain hardware and software networks.
- Perform product installation, product upgrades, product fixes, troubleshooting, and interaction with vendor technical support,
- Install, assemble, and configure computers, monitors network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners, and related hardware; pulls cables and rewires or directs the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration.
- Install, maintain/repair, programs and tests Telecom equipment, surveillance equipment and antennas and peripherals.
- Track, monitor, and evaluate software patches, fixes, and service packs.
- Coordinate computer based anti-virus software implementation, usage, and training. Perform random audits to ensure anti-virus software is current and updates when needed.
- Monitor City's laptop and mobile computers inventory. Ensure units are functional and provide user training as required.
- Maintain City of San Luis databases related to the tracking inventory of software and computer hardware and maintain computer software inventory, i.e., software license install media, manuals, etc.
- Provide specialty support for Public Safety enterprise technology and software:
- Technology (handheld scanners, video wall, cd/DVD duplicators, etc.)
- Install, test, configure, and deploy New World Public Safety related applications,
- 911 systems support, including 911 recording systems, terminals, communication lines, networking equipment, redundant power systems, etc.
- Collaborate with Yuma Regional Communications Systems (YRCS) personnel and attends any related meetings to YRCS and New World Public Safety.
- Lead IT technicians to include scheduling time, identifying training needs, and provide recommendations for personnel actions.
- Manage IT service request queue and ensure all IT service requests are resolved in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and manage vendor contracts for hardware maintenance and software applications.
- Monitor vendor related to electronic data transfers, i.e., troubleshooting issues.
- Monitor City compliance with software copyright laws. Perform random audits to ensure compliance.
- Train, advise, and assist personnel with technical problems related to computers, networks, wireless and technical systems, and associated software.
- Review technical information about hardware, software, operating systems, and evaluates products for usefulness.
- Authorize system access to users and maintain necessary documentation of authorities assigned.
- Coordinate and administer City telephone, equipment, and maintenance agreements.
- Maintain surveillance systems, configuration, and installation (milestone server applications, axis camera systems)
- Proximity systems maintenance, configuration, and install.
- Coordinate and participate with other City departments and agencies on technology projects as required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Will possess knowledge of:- Computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Technical and operational aspects of Windows OS environments including but not limited to DOS,
- File Server, Active Directory, Group Policy
- Basic understanding of Windows server services (WSUS, DNS, DC, Group Policy, ftp, Remote Desktop Services, VPN)
- Computer configurations and wireless networking.
- Data communications and related software.
- Technical and operational aspects of various office suite applications.
- Client connectivity software.
- Surveillance equipment and software.
- Telecommunication equipment including voice-over-IP.
- Antennas, software, and programming.
Possess the ability to:- Perform a high level of troubleshooting.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, identify problems, and develop solutions relating to computer hardware, operating systems, and application software.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, identify problems, and develop solutions relating to New World Public Safety Information Technology and YRCS related equipment.
- Install, configure, and support video conferencing systems such as GoToMeeting,WebEx, or zoom.
- Pass State Security requirements.
Education, Training and Experience:- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field;AND
- A minimum of one (1) year of progressively responsible experience providing information technology support;OR
- Any combination of education, certification, and experience that results in the successful performance of the job.
Licenses and Certificates:
All Licenses and Certifications required must be maintained throughout employment.- ACJIS Network Terminal Operator Certification and CompTIA Network+ Certifications,ORability to obtain both certifications within six (6) months of hire.
- A valid Arizona driver's license at the time of appointment
Special Requirements:- Residency in the United States and withing 25 miles of the City of San Luis.
- Work on-call at least three days per month
Desired/Preferred:- Bilingual in Spanish
- San Luis residency
