Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Information and Technology, seeks an experienced IT leader for a Supervisory IT Specialist (Area Manager), GS-13, to oversee area-wide IT End User Operations and ensure reliable, effective technology services supporting the VA mission and the Veterans we serve.

As an Area Manager, you will lead IT operations and teams while providing technical direction across a complex and distributed computing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading IT operations and providing technical direction across distributed environments.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor IT staff and grow leadership capability.
• Track record of analyzing problems, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions within complex IT services.

Responsibilities

• Use technical expertise to analyze options and make recommendations involving applications, communications, networks, and other IT technologies.
• Direct, review, and participate in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of automated information systems and technical architectures.
• Lead major projects involving IT program performance, organizational effectiveness, process improvement, and mission performance.
• Manage human, financial, and acquisition resources in support of area-wide IT operations.
• Develop and implement strategies that improve IT service delivery, operational performance, customer service, and organizational effectiveness.

Pay range and compensation package:

• Grade: GS-13
• Appointment: Permanent, Full-Time
• Salary: $106,437–$138,370 per year, subject to applicable locality pay
• Duty Location: Sheridan, WY
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
• Travel: Up to 25% may be required
• Telework: Ad hoc telework may be authorized at management discretion
