Job description

Job Description The IT Co-op will support the development, enhancement, and operational support of applications, integrations, AI-enabled capabilities, and business processes under the guidance of the lead developer and Supervisors of the Corporate and Operations Applications team. The position will help keep application environments consistent and validated, support platform and framework upgrades, assist with large language model (LLM) training, define and maintain AI model rules, validate model outputs, and create clear technical and process documentation. The Co-op will also develop application features, test solutions, analyze results, and collaborate with business and technology partners to improve solution quality and operational readiness.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Utilize the ticket tracking system to accept and manage assignments.
  • Discuss requests, requirements, and expected outcomes with the Business Systems Analyst, lead developer, supervisor, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop an approach and plan to address assigned application, environment, process, data, or AI-related work.
  • Partner with the lead developer and supervisor to design solutions for assigned work.
  • Compare configuration, settings, security roles, workflows, and connection details across development, test, user acceptance, and production environments to identify differences, and apply approved changes to keep lower environments aligned with production.
  • Validate application integrations and APIs after environment refreshes, releases, patches, and infrastructure changes, confirming that documents and data are stored, indexed, retrieved, and displayed correctly.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot document and data posting failures by reviewing logs, queues, and error messages, reproducing issues, identifying root cause, and recommending fixes.
  • Support planning and testing for platform and framework upgrades, including inventory of customizations and integrations, compatibility analysis, regression test plans, and test evidence.
  • Develop and maintain integration code, services, and scripts, and automate repeatable environment comparison and validation checks.
  • Provide support for in-house developed business applications, including defect triage, enhancement support, release support, and validation of scheduled jobs and data feeds.
  • Assist with upgrading web applications and APIs to currently supported framework versions, updating packages, resolving deprecated functionality, and verifying behavior through regression testing.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, views, and stored procedures, and validate data quality, mappings, and extract results.
  • Support LLM and AI model training by preparing, organizing, labeling, and reviewing representative business content and test data, and help identify and prototype automation opportunities that reduce manual data entry.
  • Define, configure, test, and maintain AI model rules, prompts, decision criteria, and exception-handling logic under team guidance.
  • Execute structured test scenarios, compare model outputs with expected results, identify patterns or gaps, and record findings for model refinement.
  • Assist with monitoring model performance, data quality, accuracy, and consistency, and elevate unexpected or potentially biased results.
  • Create and maintain technical and process documentation, including solution designs, environment comparison checklists, runbooks, AI model rules, training procedures, test cases, results, issue logs, data definitions, and user guidance.
  • Document designs and supporting artifacts in the appropriate repository or tracking system.
  • Develop solutions in accordance with approved designs and team standards.
  • Participate in code, configuration, rule, and documentation reviews.
  • Execute unit testing and support integration and user acceptance testing as needed.
  • Check code and configuration changes into the relevant branch or repository for deployment.
  • Address issues discovered during testing and verify that corrections meet expected outcomes.
  • Participate in team meetings, demonstrations, knowledge-transfer sessions, and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
