Job summary

Encompass Health in Modesto, CA is seeking an Infection Preventionist to lead our infection control program and safeguard patient safety. You will collaborate with clinical teams to implement and monitor prevention practices, ensuring compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and state guidelines while advancing care quality.

The role focuses on surveillance, data analysis, staff education, policy management, and cross-department collaboration to uphold high standards of care for rehabilitation

Qualifications

• Current license or certification as a medical technologist, clinical laboratory scientist, physician, or registered nurse.
• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare field.
• At least 1 year of clinical experience in the infection prevention field.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• CIC certification preferred; hospital infection control experience preferred.
• Completed post-secondary education in health-related field.

Responsibilities

• Direct the managerial functions of our Infection Control Program.
• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other state and federal standards.
• Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances.
• Manage hospital policies in line with infection control guidelines.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Educate staff on infection control protocols.
• Serve as a knowledgeable resource on infection control practices.
• Develop and maintain infection control standards meeting regulatory guidelines.

• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Educate staff on infection control protocols.
• Serve as a knowledgeable and available resource on infection control practices and policies.
• Develop and maintain infection control standards meeting regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current license or certification as a medical technologist, clinical laboratory scientist, physician, or registered nurse.
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a healthcare field.
• 1 year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice.
• Preferred: CIC Certification.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• Preferred: experience in hospital infection control practice.
• Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology.
