Job summary

Encompass Health, a national inpatient rehabilitation provider, seeks an Infection Preventionist / Hospital Educator in Avondale, AZ, to lead infection control and staff education initiatives. You will monitor trends, ensure CMS/TJC/CDC/OSHA compliance, and drive program improvements across the facility.

Qualifications

• CPR certification required and current health-related licensure/certification.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• Experience as an educator preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the managerial functions of the Infection Control Program.
• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other standards.
• Analyze infection data to identify trends and risk factors.
• Manage hospital policies aligned with infection control guidelines.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Coordinate clinical rotations and student orientation.
• Train staff in new hire orientation and department training.
• Assist with projects, audits and QA training.
• Coordinate preceptor program.

Be the Infection Preventionist / Hospital Educator you always wanted to be

• Direct the managerial functions of our Infection Control Program.
• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other federal and state standards and guidelines.
• Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances.
• Manage hospital policies consistent with applicable infection control guidelines and standards.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Assists in coordination of clinical rotations and student orientation packet completion.
• Trains staff in new hire orientation (departmental) and assists in general hospital orientation.
• Assists with projects and audits.
• Assists with staff training in QI certification and other required training.
• Coordinates preceptor program.

Qualifications

• License or Certification:
  • CPR certification required.
  • Current license or certification applicable to health-related field.
• Education and Experience:
  • Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology.
  • Previous experience as an Educator preferred.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
• 1 year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice.
• If Registered Nurse, CRRN certification preferred.
• Experience in hospital infection control practice preferred.
