Job summary

Encompass Health in Cape Coral, FL is seeking an Infection Preventionist / Hospital Educator to lead our infection prevention program and partner with the care team to safeguard patient safety. This role involves spearheading surveillance, policy management, staff education, and collaboration across departments in a nationally recognized inpatient rehabilitation provider.

The position emphasizes hands-on program leadership, data analysis for trends, and ongoing improvement projects, with CIC

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a health-related field (medicine, nursing, public health, biology, etc.).
• Experience as an Educator is preferred.
• CPR certification is required.
• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the managerial functions of the Infection Control Program.
• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other standards.
• Analyze infection data to identify trends and risk factors.
• Manage hospital infection control policies and guidelines.
• Perform surveillance and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Coordinate staff training, orientation, and preceptor programs.

Be the Infection Preventionist / Hospital Educator you always wanted to be

• Direct the managerial functions of our Infection Control Program.
• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other federal and state standards and guidelines.
• Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances.
• Manage hospital policies consistent with applicable infection control guidelines and standards.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Assists in coordination of clinical rotations and student orientation packet completion.
• Trains staff in new hire orientation (departmental) and assists in general hospital orientation.
• Assists with projects and audits.
• Assists with staff training in QI certification and other required training.
• Coordinates preceptor program.

Qualifications

• License or Certification:
• CPR certification required.
• Current license or certification applicable to health-related field.
• Education and Experience:
• • Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology.
  • Previous experience as an Educator preferred.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
• 1 year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice.
• If Registered Nurse, CRRN certification preferred.
• Experience in hospital infection control practice preferred.
