Job summary

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of West Valley is seeking an Infection Preventionist / Hospital Educator to lead the hospital's infection control program and staff training efforts. The role focuses on preventing infections and ensuring compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and state standards.

The position emphasizes surveillance of infection data, policy management, and coordination of clinical rotations.

Qualifications

• CPR certification required.
• Current license or certification applicable to health-related field.
• Post-secondary education in a health-related field.
• 1 year experience in a clinical setting.
• Experience as an Educator preferred.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
• If Registered Nurse, CRRN certification preferred.
• Experience in hospital infection control practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the managerial functions of the Infection Control Program.
• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other standards and guidelines.
• Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends and risk factors.
• Manage hospital policies consistent with infection control guidelines and standards.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Assist in coordination of clinical rotations and student orientation packets.
• Train staff in new hire orientation and department-wide training.
• Assist with projects and audits.
• Assist with staff training in QI certification and other required training.
• Maintain current knowledge of infection control practices.

• Manage hospital policies consistent with applicable infection control guidelines and standards.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Assists in coordination of clinical rotations and student orientation packet completion.
• Trains staff in new hire orientation (departmental) and assists in general hospital orientation.
• Assists with projects and audits.
• Assists with staff training in QI certification and other required training.
• Experience in hospital infection control practice preferred.

Qualifications

• License or Certification:
• CPR certification required.
• Current license or certification applicable to health-related field.
• Education and Experience:
  • Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology.
  • Previous experience as an Educator preferred.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
• 1 year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice.
• If Registered Nurse, CRRN certification preferred.
• Experience in hospital infection control practice preferred.
