Job summary

Encompass Health Corporation is seeking an Infection Preventionist / Hospital Educator to lead infection prevention efforts and educate staff across our inpatient rehabilitation network. You will collaborate with clinical teams to prevent infections and maintain high patient-safety standards.

The role involves monitoring infection data, ensuring CMS/CDC/OSHA compliance, coordinating training, and supporting clinical rotations while advancing our mission to deliver compassionate rehabilitation

Qualifications

• Must have CPR certification.
• Current license or certification in a health-related field.
• Post-secondary health-related education completed.
• Experience as an educator preferred.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.

Responsibilities

• Direct the infection control program's management.
• Ensure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA standards.
• Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends and factors.
• Manage hospital policies in line with infection control guidelines.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital infections.
• Coordinate clinical rotations and student orientation materials.
• Train staff in new hire orientation and departmental onboarding.
• Assist with projects, audits, and QI certification training.
• Coordinate preceptor program and staff education.

Be the Infection Preventionist / Hospital Educator you always wanted to be

• Direct the managerial functions of our Infection Control Program.


• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other federal and state standards and guidelines.


• Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances.


• Manage hospital policies consistent with applicable infection control guidelines and standards.


• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.


• Assists in coordination of clinical rotations and student orientation packet completion.


• Trains staff in new hire orientation (departmental) and assists in general hospital orientation.


• Assists with projects and audits.


• Assists with staff training in QI certification and other required training.


• Coordinates preceptor program.

Qualifications

• License or Certification:


• CPR certification required.


• Current license or certification applicable to health-related field.


• Education and Experience:
  
  
  
  • Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology.
  
  
  • Previous experience as an Educator preferred.
  
  
  
  


• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.


• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.


• 1 year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice.


• If Registered Nurse, CRRN certification preferred.


• Experience in hospital infection control practice preferred.
