Job summary

Encompass Health Infection Preventionist / Hospital Educator role is dedicated to safeguarding patient safety across our inpatient rehabilitation network. You will lead infection control initiatives, guide regulatory compliance, and collaborate with clinical teams to drive improvements in care quality.

The position emphasizes surveillance, education responsibilities, and coordination of rotations for students, while supporting staff training and audits to uphold best practices in infection

Qualifications

• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
• 2+ years in health-related field education or infection prevention.

Responsibilities

• Direct the managerial functions of our Infection Control Program.
• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other federal and state standards and guidelines.
• Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances.
• Manage hospital policies consistent with applicable infection control guidelines and standards.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Assists in coordination of clinical rotations and student orientation packet completion.
• Trains staff in new hire orientation (departmental) and assists in general hospital orientation.
• Assists with projects and audits.
• Assists with staff training in QI certification and other required training.
• Coordinates preceptor program.

Qualifications

• License or Certification:
• CPR certification required.
• Current license or certification applicable to health-related field.
• Education and Experience:
  • Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology.
  • Previous experience as an Educator preferred.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
• 1 year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice.
• If Registered Nurse, CRRN certification preferred.
• Experience in hospital infection control practice preferred.
