Infection Prevention and Control Nurse

Full Time, Day Shift, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for maintaining clinical competency through application of nursing knowledge, leadership, and communication skills. It involves organizing workflow for IPC practices, integrating current standards and regulations, and practicing continuous quality improvement and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

• Educate center staff on IPC practices as directed by the DON/ADON.
• Update staff on changes to IPC practices.
• Report infections and cluster illnesses to appropriate authorities (e.g., Department of Health, NHSN, CDC).
• Participate in QAPI related to IPC practices, including PPE procedures and healthcare-associated infections.
• Perform fit testing for staff, maintain documentation, and ensure privacy related to medical evaluations.
• Communicate with patients and families about IPC practices and involve them in decision-making.
• Monitor nursing care to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
• Assist with medications, treatments, admissions, hiring, and orientation of staff regarding IPC.
• Ensure the dignity and safety of patients concerning IPC practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Licensure: Graduate from an accredited nursing school, current unencumbered license in the state, IPC certification within six months.

Experience: 2-5 years as an LPN or RN; infection control or risk management experience preferred.
