Job summary

Majestic Care of Newburgh in Indiana is seeking an Infection Prevention Staff Development Nurse (IPSD) to lead infection control and staff development initiatives. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programs while performing clinical tasks as needed.

The role involves developing orientation for new hires, delivering hands-on training to licensed and unlicensed staff, coordinating CPR training, and ensuring competency through evaluations.

Qualifications

• Active RN or LPN license issued by the state board.
• CPR teaching certification required.
• Ability to push, pull and lift at least 25 pounds.
• Experience in long-term care or geriatric care preferred.
• At least 2 years nursing experience with infection control training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure care team receives compliance training and education per Code of Conduct.
• Maintain documentation for training per state, federal and compliance needs.
• Monitor performance and address compliance issues.
• Develop and conduct clinical orientation with HR for new staff.
• Provide hands-on orientation and instruction to licensed and unlicensed staff.
• Coordinate nurse training including CPR and new hire orientation.
• Assess resident needs and design infection control training accordingly.
• Ensure nursing staff competency through observed skills and annual assessments.
• Support nursing floor duties during critical staffing levels.
• Collect and analyze infection data to identify trends.
• Consult on infection risk assessment and prevention strategies.
• Prepare infection control reports outlining infections and trends.
• Assist in department budget and control expenditures.
• Coordinate OSHA/Risk Management program with HR for documentation.
• Ensure curriculum meets state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
• Plan and conduct required in-service programs.
• Coordinate training for CNAs and other staff.
• Manage Relias usage for onboarding and offboarding.
• Coordinate annual OSHA trainings with HR and Maintenance.
• Ensure PPE supplies are adequate for care teams.
