Job summary

Majestic Care of Newburgh is seeking an Infection Prevention Staff Development Nurse (IPSD) to oversee infection control and staff development within a long-term care setting. The IPSD will assess needs, plan and implement training, and collaborate with the DNS to ensure clinical competency of nursing staff and CNAs.

Responsibilities include developing orientation programs, providing hands-on clinical orientation, coordinating CPR and new-hire trainings, and analyzing infection data to guide

Qualifications

• Licensed RN or LPN in the state of employment with an active license.
• CPR teaching certificate or equivalent certification.
• Ability to push, pull and lift at least 25 pounds.
• Experience in long-term care or geriatric population preferred.
• Minimum two years nursing experience with training in Infection Control.

Responsibilities

• Ensure care team members receive compliance training and education.
• Maintain documentation for training per state, federal, and compliance requirements.
• Monitor performance and address compliance issues.
• Develop and conduct clinical orientation with HR Manager for new staff.
• Provide hands-on clinical orientation to licensed and unlicensed staff.
• Coordinate nursing staff training including CPR sessions.
• Assess resident needs and design training programs accordingly.
• Work with DNS to ensure clinical competency and annual CNA evaluations.
• Support nursing staff on the floor during staffing shortages.
• Collect, analyze and report infection data and trends to nursing staff.
• Consult on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
• Ensure infection control reports identify infection types and trends.
• Assist in budgeting and cost containment for the department.
• Coordinate OSHA/Risk Management training with HR Manager.
• Ensure curriculum meets state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
• Plan and conduct required in-service programs.
• Coordinate Relias utilization for onboarding and offboarding.
• Collaborate with HR Manager and Maintenance Director on annual OSHA trainings.
• Ensure PPE supplies are adequate.
