Job summary

CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson, part of CommonSpirit Health, seeks an Infection Prevention Specialist to lead surveillance, education, and performance improvement efforts to prevent disease transmission and protect patients, staff, and visitors.

You will conduct rounds, monitor healthcare‑associated infections, provide expert guidance on infection control, and ensure CMS and accreditation standards are met. CIC certification should be obtained within 24 months of start.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology or equivalent, upon hire.
• Associate degree in healthcare-related field accepted at hire.
• Three years of healthcare-related experience.
• Certified in Infection Control (CIC) within 24 months of start.

Responsibilities

• Lead infection prevention surveillance and ensure CMS/state/hospital accreditation standards compliance.
• Serve as subject matter expert for infection control, identify training needs, oversee workflows and education.
• Develop and update Infection Prevention Program in line with APIC guidelines and national standards.
• Analyze infection data to identify trends, mitigate risks, and implement targeted interventions.
