Job summary

Parametrix is seeking an experienced Industrial Wastewater Engineer to support the Greater Washington EP&C team. Based in WA with hybrid/remote flexibility, you will work on planning, permitting, design, and improvements of wastewater systems, focusing on NPDES and state discharge permits.

You will mentor junior staff, interpret complex regulations, and develop permit applications and technical reports while collaborating with clients and regulators to deliver compliant, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil, environmental, mechanical, or related engineering discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience supporting the design and permitting of wastewater projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington or Oregon, or the ability to obtain licensure within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret regulatory requirements and develop policies, plans, and procedures for compliance.
  • Track and assess federal, state, and local regulations related to stormwater and discharges.
  • Prepare compliance documents, technical reports, and permit-related materials.
  • Prepare permit applications, renewals, modifications, and regulatory agency reports.
  • Develop water balances and process diagrams; recommend equipment.
  • Support planning, design, rehabilitation, and improvement of wastewater systems.
  • Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, and other professionals.
  • Mentor developing engineers in wastewater permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage assigned work within budgets and schedules while ensuring high-quality outcomes.
