Job summary

Parametrix is seeking an experienced Industrial Wastewater Engineer to support the EP&C team in Washington. The role focuses on regulatory compliance and discharge permitting for municipal and industrial wastewater projects, with opportunities to mentor staff.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license (WA/OR) or can obtain one within a year, and has 5+ years in wastewater design and permitting. Flexible hybrid/remote options are available across WA offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering; master’s degree preferred.
• Five+ years designing and permitting wastewater projects.
• PE license in WA or OR, or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Strong knowledge of NPDES and state permits; familiarity with WPCF.
• Experience in WA/OR/ID or other Western states wastewater permitting.

Responsibilities

• Interpret regulatory requirements and develop compliance plans and procedures.
• Track and assess federal, state, and local stormwater and discharge rules.
• Prepare NPDES and state permit documents and regulatory reports.
• Develop water balances and process diagrams; recommend equipment.
• Support planning, design, rehab, and improvement of wastewater systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and staff in permitting and compliance.
• Manage work within budgets and schedules while ensuring quality.
