Job summary

Parametrix is seeking an experienced Industrial Wastewater Engineer to support the Washington EP&C team in planning, permitting, design, and improvement of wastewater systems with emphasis on regulatory compliance and discharge permits.

The role requires strong knowledge of NPDES and state permits, and involves mentoring junior staff while coordinating projects across multiple offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and beyond. Hybrid/remote work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil, environmental, mechanical, or related engineering.
• Five or more years of experience supporting the design and permitting of wastewater projects.
• PE license in WA or OR, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Interpret regulatory requirements and develop policies, plans, and procedures for compliance.
• Track and assess federal, state, and local regulations related to stormwater and discharges.
• Prepare compliance documents, reports, and permit applications.
• Develop water balances, process flow diagrams, and equipment recommendations.
• Support planning, design, rehabilitation, and improvement of wastewater systems.
• Collaborate with clients, regulators, engineers, and staff.
• Mentor developing engineers in wastewater permitting and compliance.
• Manage work within budgets and schedules while ensuring quality.
