Job summary

Publix Super Markets is seeking a Refrigeration Technician to service ammonia refrigeration systems in our warehouses and manufacturing facilities, ensuring a climate-controlled environment for fresh foods and beverages. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and training entry level technicians, with opportunities to contribute to system improvements.

The role requires flexibility to work various shifts, good communication, and strict adherence to GMP and safety

Qualifications

• EPA 608 certification within one year of start date.
• Medical clearance to wear respirators within two weeks of contingent offer.
• Ability to lift 65 pounds and handle physical tasks daily.
• Experience using hand tools and maintaining refrigeration systems.
• Ability to read schematics and electrical diagrams.
• Adherence to GMP, OSHA, PSM and Publix safety programs.
• Comfort working across ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems.
• Ability to train entry level technicians on procedures and safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and operating Industrial Refrigeration systems.
• Conducting daily rounds to observe temperatures and humidity; make minor adjustments.
• Repair and preventive maintenance on ammonia and Freon systems (compressors, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, glycol systems, motors, power distribution).
• Train entry level technicians in day-to-day operations and inspections.
• Participate in process improvements to reduce downtime.
• General housekeeping in machine rooms; maintain cleanliness.
• Other duties as assigned.
