Job summary

The City of Frederick seeks a Pretreatment Technician to assist with the Industrial Pretreatment and Fats, Oils and Grease programs. You will respond to emergencies within the DPW and support compliance inspections.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Vehicle Operator’s license, DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate, and wastewater certification. A safety‑sensitive role with potential for hybrid telework is described.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Federal, State and local pretreatment regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Safety standards and OSHA rules knowledge.
• Ability to communicate in English and follow instructions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assist with industrial compliance inspections.
• Assist in preparation of inspection reports and documentation.
• Enter data from industrial and laboratory reports.
• Perform sampling and monitoring of industries under the Pretreatment Program.
• Maintain and ensure pretreatment equipment and facilities are clean and functional.
• Support Wastewater Treatment operations as needed.
