Job summary

City of Frederick's Water Treatment Plant is seeking a Water Treatment Operator I/II/III/IV to manage daily operations, monitor SCADA, ensure EPA/MDE compliance, and perform routine laboratory tests. The role requires shift work, on-call response, and ongoing training to maintain water licenses.

Responsibilities include logging readings, adjusting chemical dosing, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safe, reliable water treatment across 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED required.
• Ability to obtain Operator In Training Class 4 within 45 days of hire.
• Knowledge of water quality regulations and testing procedures.
• Experience with SCADA and basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and monitor SCADA to regulate flows and treatment.
• Maintain logs of operations and meter readings.
• Collect water samples and conduct routine lab tests.
• Perform preventive maintenance and adjust chemical dosing under supervision.
• Attend classes to maintain water licenses.
