Job summary

The City of Frederick is seeking a Pretreatment Technician to support the Industrial Pretreatment Program and the Fats, Oils and Grease Program. The role involves inspections, data entry, sampling, and equipment maintenance within the DPW, with opportunities for hybrid telework.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, relevant licenses (Vehicle Operator, DOT Medical Exam, and a 5A wastewater certificate) and the ability to work nights, weekends, and travel for training as

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Vehicle Operator's license with insurability standards required.
• DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate required or obtainable within 45 days of hire.
• Temporary Wastewater Class 5A Certificate or ability to obtain within 45 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists with industrial compliance inspections of industrial and commercial businesses.
• Assists in the preparation of inspection reports and other documentation.
• Enters data from industrial reports and laboratory reports.
• Performs sampling and monitoring of industries under the Industrial Pretreatment Program.
• Maintains pretreatment program equipment and facilities; communicates with City officials, coworkers, vendors and the public.
• Performs duties as Wastewater Treatment Operator IV for shift coverage or emergencies.
• Operates a vehicle and follows defensive driving practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
