Job summary

Interfor is hiring an Industrial Millwright Trainee in Eatonton, GA. You will work closely with experienced millwrights to learn how to safely install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems that keep the sawmill running efficiently.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a two-year technical degree related to industrial systems or maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Interest in developing a career as an industrial millwright.
• Willingness to learn mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced millwrights with repairs, maintenance, and improvements.
• Read and interpret equipment drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain conveyors, bearings, belts, gears, and mill equipment.
• Learn alignment, installation, and adjustment of mechanical components.
• Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout before work.
• Operate mill equipment for test runs after repairs as required.
• Document work performed, parts used, and time required.
• Maintain tools and work areas in a clean, safe condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

What You’ll Do Assist experienced millwrights with mechanical repairs, maintenance, and improvement projects throughout the mill. Learn to read and interpret equipment drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals. Perform routine preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment. Assist with troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining mechanical equipment, including conveyors, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and other mill equipment. Learn proper alignment, installation, and adjustment of mechanical components and equipment. Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements, before performing maintenance or repairs. Learn to safely operate mill equipment to perform test runs following repairs, as required. Complete work orders and accurately document work performed, parts used, and time required. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Physical Requirements Walk, stand, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds. Work safely from elevated platforms and heights. Work around operating equipment and machinery in an industrial environment. What You Offer Current enrollment in a two-year technical degree in Industrial Systems Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or a closely related field . High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Strong interest in developing a career as an industrial millwright. Ability to work safely from elevated platforms and heights. Willingness to learn mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and mill equipment operation. Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
