Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking an experienced millwright to repair and maintain plant equipment, including welding, hydraulics, rigging, and alignment. The role requires a minimum of four years’ millwright experience, blueprint literacy, and the ability to pass a welding test.

You will work across shifts, ensure safety, and perform diverse maintenance tasks in an industrial setting. The job involves reading drawings, assembling and installing equipment, and supervising or coordinating hoisting

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum set of hand tools as specified by the Company.
• Previous experience must include a minimum of four years as a millwright.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints and equipment instructions.
• Must be able to weld with enough proficiency to pass a Company welding test in both electrical arc and oxygen/acetylene welding.
• Must be thoroughly familiar with safety in the maintenance field.
• Must be capable of working with a minimum of supervision.
• A written test will be given as part of the company’s evaluation of aptitude for the job.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Dismantle machinery or equipment, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
• Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Assembles and install equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools.
• Constructs foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials.
• Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs.
• Assembles machinery and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures.
• May operate engine lathe or milling machine to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
• Required repair and lubricate machinery and equipment.
• Select cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
• Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hooks.
• Sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches.
• May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment.
• In addition, they may perform all duties of General Laborer, Skilled Laborer and Carpenter and possibly electrician.
