Job summary

ATI is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for our Brackenridge Operations for Summer 2027. The successful candidate will provide engineering support within an industrial manufacturing environment while gaining practical, hands-on experience with mechanical equipment, maintenance, reliability, and capital improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a 4-year college degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Rising Junior by Summer 2027.
• Completion of foundational mechanical engineering coursework (statics, dynamics, materials, thermodynamics, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and documentation.
• Willingness to work in both office and industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design, evaluation, modification, and improvement of industrial mechanical equipment and systems.
• Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of mechanical equipment failures.
• Participate in equipment reliability and preventive maintenance initiatives.
• Assist with equipment installation, modification, repair, and replacement projects.
• Perform field inspections, measurements, and equipment assessments.
• Develop or update mechanical drawings, layouts, and specifications.
• Assist with mechanical calculations and analyses involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and other systems.
• Collect and analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and improvements.
• Prepare project documentation, cost estimates, and scopes of work.
• Support commissioning, testing, and startup activities.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations to identify problems and engineering solutions.
• Engage in continuous improvement focused on reliability, productivity, and safety.
• Evaluate replacement parts and vendor proposals.
