Job summary

ATI is seeking a Process Controls and Automation Intern for Summer 2027 at Brackenridge Operations. The role provides hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and industrial networks in a real manufacturing setting.

You will collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to improve equipment reliability, process performance, safety, and efficiency, while supporting system upgrades, testing, and data analysis.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
Pursuing or completing a 4-year college program with Summer 2027 availability.

Responsibilities

Assist design, development, testing, and implementation of industrial control and automation systems.
Support PLC-based control system programming and troubleshooting.
Assist with the development and modification of HMI screens, operator interfaces, alarms, and process displays.
Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation equipment.
Collaborate with engineers, technicians, maintenance personnel, and operations to resolve issues.
Assist with data collection and analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
Participate in control system upgrades, equipment installations, and capital projects.
Develop and maintain electrical drawings, control schematics, and system documentation.
