Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1–3 years of related experience and/or training in maintenance processes.
• Thorough knowledge of general shop tools and equipment used in maintenance.
• Perform work with attention to detail, prioritization and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Observe and listen to operating machines to diagnose malfunctions and determine repairs.
• Dismantle machines and inspect parts; use hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools.
• Replace defective parts or reproduce parts from metal stock with hand tools and machine tools.
• Test malfunctioning machinery with test equipment and discuss issues with staff.
• Adjust devices using hand tools, multimeter, gauges and levels.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled.
• Conduct tests and inspections to evaluate quality or performance.
• Take corrective action in emergencies such as power or equipment failures.
• Assist or direct work in plant or office layout changes as assigned.
• Maintain facility and equipment in safe repair state.
• Inspect safety equipment and report needed actions.
• Advise vendors on maintenance procedures as required.
• Keep an inventory of spare parts for critical production equipment.
