Job summary

Tyson Foods in Amherst, OH is hiring Industrial Maintenance Mechanics for 2nd shift. The role is full-time with pay ranging from $24.40 to $34.85 per hour based on experience.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, troubleshoot issues, and help maximize plant efficiency in a cold, wet production environment. Ideal candidates have at least 6 months of maintenance experience or completion of a maintenance/HVAC program, or related degree.

Qualifications

• 6 months of industrial or general maintenance experience documented in the application.
• Documentation of completion for a maintenance or HVAC training program, or a related degree.
• Graduate without experience if in a related field; otherwise experience required.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety, GMP, and attendance policies.
• Maximize plant efficiencies and maintain product quality.
• Complete daily logs and report unsafe conditions or mechanical issues.
• Maintain mechanical inventory and replace parts accurately.
• Lubrication, belt repairs, power train and bearing maintenance, motor/gearbox replacement, forklift maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment promptly.
• Work overtime and weekends as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience must be documented on your application.

• Must have a minimum of 6 months of industrial maintenance or general maintenance work experience documented in the work history section OR be graduate of a maintenance training program, HVAC training program (Vocational or Trade schools) (will need to provide documentation of completion) or have a degree within a relative field (if graduated, no experience needed at time of hire)

POSITION SUMMARY

Maintenance Generalist - 2nd Shift - Full Time - Amherst, OH 44001

Maintenance Pay range - $24.40 to $34.85/HR(Pay commensurate with experience)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The frequency of the following activities may vary according to the requirements of the job task assigned.
• Follows all company personnel safety, food safety, attendance, GMP policies.
• Proactive in the daily plant operations as well as set up and/or breakdown.
• Work to maximize plant efficiencies, reduce costs, and maintain product quality.
• Completes daily log sheets, communicates effectively, and is proactive in recognizing and reporting unsafe conditions and/or other mechanical concerns.
• Assist in maintaining a relevant and accurate mechanical inventory.
• Accurately and consistently change out parts.
• Lubrication, conveyor belt repairs, power train & bearing maintenance, motor and gearbox replacement, fork truck & pallet jack maintenance.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment in a timely manner.
• Must be willing and able to work effectively under time constraints.
• Must be willing and able to use measurement devices.
• Must be willing and able to perform electrical and mechanical predictive and preventative maintenance as tasked.
• Must be willing and able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.

FOR ALL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule if needed in a cold, wet, humid environment with temperatures ranging from 35 to 50 degrees.
• Must be willing and able to stand, sit and use hands and fingers to handle or feel 67-100% of the time.
• Must be willing and able to walk, talk and hear 67-100% of the time.
• Must be willing and able to bend, squat and kneel 33-67% of the time.
• Must be willing and able to taste or smell 0-33% of the time.
• Must be willing and able to ascend and descend stairs 67-100% of the time.
• Must be willing and able to lift and/or move up to 45 lbs. 67-100% of the time, 50 lbs. 33-67% of the time and 100 lbs. 0-33% of the time.
• Must be willing and able to push/pull 300 lbs. 33-67% of the time.
