Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a maintenance technician to troubleshoot, maintain and repair equipment and assets across a feed mill facility. The role requires working in dusty, cold, damp, or hot environments, physical tasks, and the ability to read and write to follow preventive maintenance programs.

Candidates must have basic math and computer skills, data entry proficiency with handheld devices, and the ability to operate hand and power tools, saws, drills, grinders, and ladders.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months operator experience with one employer in the previous 12 months.
• Three to five years related experience with at least three years in an industrial setting/relevant work experience.
• A High School Diploma or equivalent to include Technical or Vocational Diploma preferred, or combination of equivalent experience and education in lieu of a Diploma.
• Must be able to obtain powered industrial truck certification (PIT).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment and company assets while upholding safety and Tyson policies.
• Enter data into handheld computer system; communicate information accurately.
• Work with contractors to ensure machines are properly utilized and maintained.

Job description

Work Schedule: 4 am to 2 pm Monday-Tuesday- Thursday - Friday

Starting base pay: $20.90/hour

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This position could work in any department of the feed mill. Standing, walking, bending, stretching, twisting, climbing, pushing and pulling up to 300lb buggies, and reaching are required in all areas. Lifting is required in many areas (weight depends upon area). Working on elevated surfaces is required in some areas. This position works in a dusty, cold, damp or hot and humid environment and these areas have slippery walking surfaces. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess basic math and computer skills. Must enter data into handheld computer system. Must be able to use basic hand tools, operate power tools and all automated equipment, saws, sheet metal shears, drills, grinders and ladders as needed. Must be able to obtain powered industrial truck certi fication (PIT).

In addition, this position requires working with specialized equipment and observing the use of said equipment. Must be able to keep machines maintained and clean. Must be able to work alongside contractors in order to ensure that our equipment is being properly utilized. Must go through training through to properly set up, operate, and shut down equipment. The person in this position will have their performance evaluated by Tyson and vendor to ensure that the machines are being operated properly. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Applicant must reside in a 30-mile radius of the facility. Days and hours may vary. Must have the ability to fabricate by welding and cutting. Must be able to read and write in order to follow Tyson preventive maintenance program.

Requirements
