Job summary

Valmont in Steele, Alabama is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic on 2nd or 3rd shift to perform routine and scheduled plant maintenance, inspect equipment, and install or replace components to keep production running safely.

Candidates should have hands‑on experience with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical systems, read a tape measure, and operate a forklift/overhead crane. High school diploma or GED preferred; strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Mechanically and technically inclined preferred.
• Computer skills (Word, Outlook)
• Able to read, write and follow instructions.
• Able to perform simple mathematics and read a tape measure.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance procedures.
• Perform industrial maintenance using tools and equipment of several trades (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, electronics, welding, etc.).
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections to ensure equipment operates properly.
• Install, configure, and replace equipment and parts as needed.
• Adjust equipment for safe and efficient operation.
• Recognize and solve practical problems or issues.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and be a team player.
