Job summary

AWC, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician in the Birmingham, Alabama region with a strong background in industrial instrumentation and electrical systems.

You will install, commission, calibrate, maintain, and repair instrumentation at various facilities, traveling throughout Alabama and the Southeast to support customer projects. The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, safety, and delivering reliable operation of process analyzers, gas detection, and related control systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in instrumentation, electrical tech, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial instrumentation, electrical maintenance, controls, or field service.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and ability to read wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and schematics.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, calibrate, and troubleshoot industrial instrumentation and control systems
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process measurement devices
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, control panels, field wiring, and instrumentation loops
• Diagnose and repair process analyzers, gas detection systems, refractometers, flow meters, and tank gauging equipment
• Conduct loop checks, startup assistance, and commissioning activities for new installations and modernization projects
• Configure and verify communication protocols such as HART, Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP
• Perform functional testing and inspections to meet customer specs and safety requirements
• Provide on-site technical support and recommendations
• Create detailed service reports
• Train customers on equipment operation and maintenance
• Travel to customer facilities across Alabama and Southeast
