Job summary

Modern Machining Solutions Inc in Addison, IL is seeking a Field Service Engineer for industrial equipment and controls. You will travel to customer sites to install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, while also contributing from the home base by writing SOPs and updating manuals.

The role combines hands-on field work with back-office duties, including training customers, building service plans, and capturing feedback to improve products.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in hands-on maintenance, field service, or industrial tech experience.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Able to read schematics and use diagnostic meters.
• Professional communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer locations to install, commission, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
• Diagnose issues across electrical, controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Provide hands-on training to customer personnel.
• Build strong customer relationships and be primary contact for service needs.
• Identify upsell opportunities such as service agreements and maintenance plans.
• Relay field observations to internal teams for product improvements.
• Assist with in-house assembly and testing during non-travel periods.
