Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI is seeking an energetic Industrial Engineer to lead early development of new product programs within a high-paced manufacturing setting.

You will champion Lean Manufacturing, line balancing, and complex production processes from concept through full production, collaborating with engineering, suppliers and in-plant IE teams. Travel up to 50% is expected; a strong focus on problem solving and data-driven improvements is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Industrial Engineering experience.
  • Strong analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office/Office 365.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within USA, Canada, Mexico and abroad.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing Systems and Standardized Work to balance lines and meet KPIs.
  • Develop plans, analyze data and provide countermeasures for program launches.
  • Coordinate with engineering, suppliers and IE teams from concept to full production.
  • Provide investment and labor impact analyses for new programs.
  • Lead cross-functional workshops for process, layout and tooling decisions.
  • Analyze data from current programs to drive throughput improvements.
  • Participate in virtual builds and pre-production builds to understand processes.
  • Collaborate with Pre-Production teams on design for manufacturability.
  • Support resolution of ergonomic issues and apply IE tools (STDS, APS, BMC, CIP).
  • Build strong plant relationships and mentor peers on projects.
