Job summary

AM General is seeking an Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer to lead production standards, line balances, layouts and cost proposals in our Mishawaka, IN facility. You will interface with engineering, operations, and vendors to optimize assembly processes, apply Lean Six Sigma and ISO tools, and drive continuous improvement while coordinating with government and internal teams.

You will leverage 3–5 years of automotive/ heavy equipment experience, apply plant-layout expertise, and collaborate

Qualifications

• Degree in industrial/ manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
• 3-5 years in automotive assembly or heavy equipment is desirable.
• Experience establishing plant layouts and cost proposals.
• Strong MS Office, AutoCAD, UG and Vis‑Mock Up knowledge.
• Experience with SharePoint, Team Center and SAP is a plus.
• Ability to lead programs across departments and vendors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and initiative.
• Ability to perform time studies and line balancing.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain production standards, line balances and manning requirements for all phases of vehicle assembly
• Establish material flow, equipment, and material station lay-outs
• Establish labor and material requirements for engineering changes, make vs. buy studies
• Interface and negotiate with government on engineering changes impacting manufacturing
• Monitor and control production line speed
• Participate in using and implementation of Lean Six Sigma and ISO Standard tools within the assembly process flow
• Provide strong leadership and support AMG BOS and MOS
