Job summary

AM General in Mishawaka, IN, is seeking an Industrial/ Manufacturing Engineer to establish production standards, layout the plant and support engineering changes in vehicle assembly. This role requires coordinating with multiple departments to optimize flow and line balancing.

Ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED plus a degree in IE/IET/ME/MET/EE/EET or equivalent, and 3–5 years in automotive/heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Degree in IE / IET, ME / MET, EE / EET or equivalent experience as an Industrial Engineer or Manufacturing / Process Engineer.
• 3-5 years' experience in an automotive assembly or heavy equipment plant is desired, but not required.
• 3-5 years' experience establishing plant layouts and cost proposals.
• Thorough knowledge of MS Office software, Auto-CAD, UG and Vis-Mock Up.
• Experience using SharePoint, and Team Center and SAP a plus.
• Must be able to take charge of programs through interfacing with departments and vendors.
• Must have strong written and verbal skills.
• Must have a high level of initiative, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or in a team environment as required.
• Must be able to problem solve, possess strong customer service skills and be able to multi-task.
• Must be able to perform time studies and be familiar with line balancing and arranging workstations for assembly line work.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain production standards, line balances and manning requirements for all phases of vehicle assembly.
• Establish material flow, equipment, and material station lay-outs.
• Establish labor and material requirements for engineering changes, make vs. buy studies.
• Interface and negotiate with government on engineering changes impacting manufacturing.
• Monitor and control production line speed.
• Participate in using and implementation of Lean Six Sigma and ISO Standard tools within the assembly process flow.
• Provide strong leadership and support AMG BOS and MOS.
