Job summary

Guidant Measurements (formerly Smith Meter Inc.) in Erie, PA, is seeking an Industrial Engineer Intern to support continuous improvement initiatives across value streams. You will collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Procurement to analyze processes, reduce waste, and improve workflow efficiency.

The role offers hands-on manufacturing exposure, data analytics development, and opportunities to work with cross-functional teams while applying Lean and Six Sigma concepts

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field; sophomore, junior, or senior preferred.
• Prior manufacturing, technical, or internship experience is a plus.
• Strong interest in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to work independently and in teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications; exposure to ERP systems such as SAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in continuous improvement projects that impact manufacturing performance.
• Learn Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence methodologies.
• Assist with process analysis, waste reduction, and workflow improvements.
• Gain exposure to manufacturing systems, quality processes, and operational metrics.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Planning, and Procurement teams.
• Develop skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and project management.
• Build professional experience in a manufacturing environment supporting the energy industry.
