Smurfit Westrock's West Point Mill seeks Electrician Techs to join a dedicated maintenance team in West Point, VA. The role focuses on electrical and instrumentation maintenance, preventive tasks, and thorough troubleshooting of PLC and DCS-driven equipment.

You will read schematics, work with PLCs and drive systems, and apply safety practices such as LOTO. The position involves rotating shifts and contributing to incident response activities.

Qualifications

• High school or GED with Virginia Career Readiness Certificate required.
• Journeyman/Master Electrician license or equivalent.
• Associates/technical degree preferred; military or apprenticeship credentials accepted.
• 5+ years of industrial electrical experience.
• Experience with PLCs and DCS systems preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, safety, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electrical and instrumentation systems; perform preventative maintenance.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, loop sheets, and process diagrams.
• Troubleshoot ladder logic and control systems; diagnose faults in equipment.
• Use test equipment like multimeters and megohmmeters for calibration and verification.
• Follow electrical safety procedures; perform LOTO as required.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams; participate in incident response and fire brigade duties.
