Job summary

Smurfit Westrock's West Point Mill in VA seeks Electrician Techs to maintain and repair industrial electrical systems. You will read schematics, troubleshoot motor control, and support safety programs in a dynamic plant environment.

We require hands-on experience with PLCs and DCS, strong problem-solving and teamwork, and the ability to work rotating shifts. Competitive hourly wage and full benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High School or GED plus Virginia Career Readiness Certificate
• 2 Year technical Degree or associate’s degree
• 5+ years industrial electrical experience
• Licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician
• Appropriate Military Technical Training
• Certificate of Apprenticeship
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, Honeywell and Valmet DCS
• Ability to work overtime
• Willingness to learn equipment
• Strong problem solving and communication

Responsibilities

• Industrial Electrical and Instrumentation plant maintenance including preventative maintenance and troubleshooting
• Read and understand electrical schematics, loop sheets, process and instrumentation diagrams
• Troubleshoot control logic such as ladder logic and function block diagrams
• Use test equipment like digital multimeters and megohmmeters
• Follow electrical safety precautions (LOTO, NFPA-70E)
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control equipment across the mill
• Operate data historian software
• Work rotating shifts (southern swing)
• Participate in Incident Response Team and as fire brigade member
