Job summary

Airgas in Cincinnati, OH is hiring a Counter Sales Associate to deliver friendly, practical service at the retail counter. You’ll handle orders, assist customers with tool selections, demonstrate equipment, and process transactions in a fast-paced environment.

This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork, with Monday–Friday hours, PPE provided, and a base salary plus bonus opportunities. Prior retail or industrial sales experience helps, and training on POS systems is provided.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1+ years of experience in a retail or customer service environment.
• Must be able to operate in a drug‑free workplace.
• Capable of moving items up to 60 pounds regularly, and 125 pounds with assistance as needed.
• Excellent customer service skills in a fast‑paced setting.
• Comfortable using basic math and computer tools, including POS systems (training provided).
• Experience in industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control is a plus.
• Attention to detail in handling transactions.
• Availability for occasional overtime when the team needs extra support.

Responsibilities

• Adherence to company policies including safety and PPE usage.
• Provides excellent customer service to internal and external partners.
• Ensures all required paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing.
• Partners with customers to identify best tools and procedures; demonstrates equipment use.
• Manages order entry and processes transactions; assists with deposits reconciliation.
• Coordinates via phone, e‑mail, and in person with customers and team members.
• Contributes to an outgoing call strategy to support branch growth.
• Coordinates transfer of merchandise between locations to meet customer needs.
• Maintains a positive work atmosphere and welcoming showroom displays.
• Coordinate cylinder movement and pallet organization.
