Job summary

Kiewit Corporation in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Building Electrical Engineer with 3+ years of building design experience to engineer electrical systems for industrial and large commercial facilities from concept through construction.

You will design lighting, power distribution, and related systems, collaborate with architects and engineers, perform calculations, and mentor junior staff. The role involves EPC/DB projects and up to 25% travel, with a strong, employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering is required.
Minimum 3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience in building industry (non-residential).
Proficient in Revit; experience with SKM or ETAP for load flow studies, arc flash, short circuit.
Experience with EPC and/or Design/Build projects is highly desired.
Strong knowledge of NEC, IBC, and energy codes.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or commitment to achieving PE within 6–18 months is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop building lighting, power, and distribution designs for industrial/large commercial projects.
Perform Revit modeling and drawings; coordinate with BIM staff.
Conduct lighting, electrical loading, short circuit, voltage drop calculations.
Develop project electrical specifications and bid/shop drawing reviews.
Coordinate with internal/external teams; provide mentoring to junior engineers.
Lead portions of projects for senior engineers and guide lower-level staff.
