Job summary

Deerfield Park District is seeking Lifeguards and Swim Instructors to support indoor pools during the year with paid training provided. Starting wage is $20.00 per hour, with a range up to $22.50. Flexible, consistent schedules and opportunities to continue roles indoors are offered.

Shifts include Sachs Recreation Center and Deerfield High School evenings, weekends, and some training times. Must be at least 15, enjoy working with children, and pass required certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older (work permit required for 15-year-olds).
• Enjoys working with children.
• Able to work in a team environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Pass Starfish certification during paid training.

Responsibilities

• Perform lifeguard duties including in-pool rescues, CPR, AED, oxygen and first aid.
• Respond to emergencies and enforce pool rules.
• Maintain pool deck, locker rooms, and facilities.
• Set up lanes and starting blocks; assist with maintenance.
• Teach camp, group, and private swim lessons; monitor progress and communicate with parents.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings.
