Job summary

The City of Deerfield Beach is seeking a part-time Aquatics Facilitator to promote a year-round aquatics program, including Learn to Swim, swim team, junior lifeguard, and special events. The role involves teaching, lifeguarding, and assisting with event setup, scheduling, and records.

The position requires lifeguard certification, CPR/First Aid/AED, and a willingness to work evenings and weekends in a busy aquatic complex environment.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of experience as a lifeguard or in water safety
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or other nationally accredited certification
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification
• Skills test including 300 yards swim, 2:00 treading, 1:40 brick recovery (test may be scheduled)

Responsibilities

• Teaches group and private swimming lessons.
• Aids in coaching year-round swim teams and aquatic programs.
• Provides lifeguard services and CPR/First Aid.
• Sets up and breaks down events at Aquatic Center.
• Maintains facility records and financials (admissions, class fees, payroll, memberships).
• Promotes aquatic programs and attends in-service trainings.
• Plans and implements programs for all ages; coordinates special events.
• Ensures safety of participants by following City policies and monitoring activity.
