Job summary

CLOVEHITCH is seeking qualified interpreters fluent in Mayan and Indigenous languages to support minors in care settings. Interpreters will provide impartial, confidential interpretation in person, by phone, or via videoconference, adapting to client needs and ensuring clear communication between minors and Care Staff, while maintaining professional ethics.

Responsibilities include onsite interpretation at client sites, relaying deadlines and questions, and assisting with access to community

Qualifications

• Must have working proficiency (ILR 2+) in English and the target language.
• May be required to obtain a T2, Public Trust clearance.
• Prior experience in foster care or medical care settings preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Subject to the Service Contract Act and wage determinations.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person, onsite interpretation at client service sites
• Relay important deadlines, instructions, questions, and other communication from Support Care Staff to minors in their native or preferred language
• Assist minors in communicating any concerns, questions, or other information to staff when minors are not fluent or comfortable speaking English or the language spoken by Care Staff
• Provide translation/interpretation services to aid in orienting minors to community resources as requested
• Assist staff with building rapport and understanding the cultural context of the client populations they serve
• Support special projects and initiatives
