Job summary

CLOVEHITCH is seeking qualified interpreters fluent in Mayan languages, Indigenous languages of Mexico, and other Indigenous languages of Central America to support a client serving minor populations. Interpreters will facilitate communication between minors and Care Staff, ensuring impartial, confidential, and culturally appropriate interpretation in various care settings.

Roles include in-person interpretation, relaying information, and assisting with translations to orient minors to community

Qualifications

• Must have working proficiency (ILR 2+) in English and the target language.
• May be required to obtain a T2, Public Trust clearance.
• Prior experience in foster care or medical care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person, onsite interpretation at client service sites.
• Relay deadlines, instructions, questions, and other communication from staff to minors in their preferred language.
• Assist minors in communicating concerns to staff when not fluent in English or staff language.
• Provide translation/interpretation to orient minors to community resources.
• Assist staff in building rapport and understanding the cultural context of client populations.
• Support special projects and initiatives.
