Job summary

CLOVEHITCH is seeking interpreters fluent in Mayan languages, Indigenous languages of Mexico, and other Indigenous languages of Central America to support a client serving minors. Interpreters will provide confidential interpretation in care settings, primarily in person, with options for remote support as needed.

Responsibilities include onsite interpretation, relaying information to minors, assisting communication with staff, and helping minors access community resources.

Qualifications

• Must have working proficiency (ILR 2+) in English and the target language.
• May require to obtain a T2, Public Trust clearance.
• Prior experience in foster care or medical care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person, onsite interpretation at client service sites.
• Relay important deadlines, instructions, questions, and other communication from Support Care Staff to minors in their native language.
• Assist minors in communicating concerns to staff when not fluent in English or the staff language.
• Provide translation/interpretation to orient minors to community resources as requested.
• Assist staff with building rapport and understanding the cultural context of client populations.
• Support special projects and initiatives.
