Job summary

Osmo is seeking a QC Technician to join a growing fragrance-focused team in Elizabeth, NJ. You will perform testing and sampling on raw materials and finished products, applying sensory judgment that complements automated testing.

The role requires independence in accept/reject decisions, with coverage of QC sign-off when the manager is away. Ideal candidates have fragrance industry exposure, strong lab instrument skills (GC/GCMS a plus), and a technical chemistry-related degree or equivalent

Qualifications

• Fragrance industry experience or exposure required.
• Comfortable making high-frequency accept/reject calls independently.
• Trained nose with sensory evaluation of fragrance materials and finished goods.
• Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation; GC/GCMS familiarity is a plus.
• Strong documentation habits for lab records and audits.
• Willing to cover QC decisions in Manager’s absence.
• Technical degree preferred (Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or related); equivalent lab experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Judge incoming raw material results from automated testing, deciding when out-of-spec readings are defects.
• Apply olfactive judgment to evaluate raw materials and finished goods.
• Run triangulation testing on outgoing product to confirm it matches prior batches.
• Make accept/reject calls in real time, escalating only ambiguous cases.
• Cover QC sign-off when QC Manager is unavailable to keep finished goods flowing.
• Maintain and calibrate lab instrumentation (GC/GCMS, photosampler, flash point, colorimeters).
• Maintain audit-ready lab records: test logs, certificates of analysis, equipment records.
• Mentor QC Tech staff on fragrance-specific testing and olfactive judgment.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Warehouse, Shipping/Receiving, and Fragrance Development on sample flow.
