Job summary

Kauai Air Conditioning & Plumbing is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and service residential and light commercial systems across Kauai. You will work independently in the field, build strong customer relationships, and support the company’s commitment to craftsmanship and reliability.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, refrigerant handling per EPA 608, and presenting repair options with clear estimates.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
EPA 608 Certification (current and in good standing).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to diagnose and repair common AC system issues.
Ability to work independently and manage service route.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair common AC issues — boards, motors, capacitors, relays, and thermostats.
Assist senior technicians on complex service calls.
Perform preventive maintenance: clean filters, coils, drain pans, and inspect components.
Take temperature/pressure readings and explain findings to customers.
Perform leak detection and repair minor leaks.
Recover and recharge refrigerant per EPA 608; track quantities in Service Titan.
Braise refrigerant lines; read electrical diagrams.
Document service calls in Service Titan with findings and recommendations.
Present repair options with clear estimates and close work.
Mentor Maintenance staff on site and maintain a clean work area.
