Job summary

Kauai Air Conditioning & Plumbing is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, repair and maintain residential and light commercial systems across Kauai. You’ll work independently, build customer relationships, and handle diagnostics, refrigerant work and light installations with professionalism and precision.

You will perform preventive maintenance, read electrical diagrams, and mentor junior technicians while following EPA 608 guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• EPA 608 Certification in good standing.
• Knowledge of residential split-system units and refrigerant handling.
• Ability to diagnose and repair AC systems independently.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair common AC system issues (boards, motors, capacitors, relays, sensors, thermostats).
• Assist senior technicians on complex calls to develop advanced diagnostic skills.
• Perform preventive maintenance: clean filters, coils, drain pans, inspect components.
• Take temperature/pressure readings and clearly communicate findings to customers.
• Conduct leak detection and minor refrigerant work; repair leaks as needed.
• Recover and recharge refrigerant per EPA 608; track quantities in Service Titan.
• Read electrical diagrams to support diagnostics and repairs.
• Handle small install tasks when required (condensers, AHU, coils).
• Build service-call documentation in Service Titan with findings and recommendations.
• Provide accurate field estimates and present repair options to customers.
• Run full service-route independently; take on after-hours calls when needed.
• Safely use gauges, meters, detectors and hand tools per EPA 608.
